Capturing Balloons

I love taking pictures of Disney balloons. I don't know what it is, but seeing balloons randomly around the park always seems magical. More than once I've gone to take a picture of a balloon in front of something I thought looked cool, and the guest would apologize and go to move the balloon and I'd have to say, no, I LIKE the balloon in the way! For example, I had to stop to take a picture of this balloon in front of the carousel in motion at night.

Nothing is as classic as the castle and a balloon at the Magic Kingdom!

The Halloween balloons were cool and this solo balloon was just hanging out in Fantasyland in Disneyland.

Something I always try to capture is the balloons on main street framing the castle. It's not always easy to get the exact angle, but I'm happy when it works!

The light from the sun made these balloons framing the hat at Hollywood Studios really pretty.

Did you know that if you ask the cast member, you can hold the balloons for a fun picture? The cast member will still hold on, so you won't have to worry about accidentally letting go and having the balloons float away!

And of course, there's always the balloon magic shot found at all the parks. My last trip, the photopass photographer had me jump in the air, for my excitement of doing the 10k that day. I didn't know until I looked on the site the next day that she made it the balloon magic shot. So fun!

So take some pictures next time you see balloons in the park!

These are such great photos Heather. What kind of camera do you use usually?

    • Thank you! 🙂 My current camera is the Sony NEX-5T. This post has a mixture of pictures from that camera, my last camera (Canon SX50, I had at least 4 versions of this camera!), and my iphone.

        Thanks!

  • I have never thought about taking pictures of the balloons like this. Great idea!
