Capturing Magic at Breakfast

There are new options for capturing magic at breakfast with characters at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

We recently had visitors in town and knew they would love to go to breakfast and meet some of their favourite Disney characters. So I booked a 9.30am breakfast and we set off. The last time we had visitors in town we also went to breakfast at the HK Disneyland Hotel. However, last time we had a 7.30 reservation and then hit the park afterwards so it was all a bit rushed.

On this visit there were Disney photographers (this was the first time I’ve seen Disney photographers at the Hotel) as well as character handlers. So we had plenty of options for taking photos – and for getting some fun poses. For some great ideas on character photos check out Tanya’s post and this podcast with Heather.

The photographers took tons of photos with us and the characters and were also more than happy to take photos with our cameras/phones. About 20 minutes after we’d had our photos taken they came around with a fun package of goodies.

From here we could choose our options. I asked if I could take the price list with me as I hadn’t seen it before. Now don’t die of shock when you read these prices – they are in Hong Kong dollars (the exchange rate is about $7HKD to $1USD).

The photos come presented in a beautiful folder and what’s nice is that you get a folder for every photo your order. I can see myself using the extra folders in my scrapbook albums.

We were really happy with the photos and ended up ordering at least one of every shot plus some key rings as well. What was really nice was that as we were looking at the photos, we realised that we didn’t have on with Goofy. So we called the Photographer over and asked him to take another one. We had the print in our hands within 15 minutes!

What’s your favourite way to capture memories at character meals?

Gab has been a Disney fan and scrapbooker of sorts ever since she can remember. She lives in Hong Kong with her husband Anthony and 11 year old son Conor and has a Magic Access Pass to Hong Kong Disneyland. She can be found on Facebook and Instagram where she shares Disney (and other) memories.

  • I would totally keep those folders, too! What a great image they used! I actually like the keychains…I don’t buy them often, but I find they are practical to have and fit a tighter budget for photo purchases. I have learned that it definitely helps to have a plan if you want to get photos with characters at meals. It has always been very hectic in my opinion, but then again I am the primary photographer. Thanks for the insight to HK DL!
