Our trip is now just 200 days away! As I have been doing planning of how I am going to capture and document memories while we are on our trip I realized that my girls need to be able to document the trip as well. I wanted to be sure they wrote about their day – and realized I had a perfect solution which handles both items at once.
I started with these supplies:
spiral bound 4×6 index cards (from when I was in college for flashcards but didn't use all of them and knew the perfect use for them would come along)
landscape photo albums (must have gotten them on clearance)
Disney stickers (from various sources that I had in my sticker collection)
cardstock (from my paper scrapbooking days)
I let the girls choose their cover color and then decorate as they wanted.
For my youngest I created a title for her to attach and she added the stickers she wanted, she was so sweet to include Jiminy Cricket – my favorite character – on her cover.
My oldest used letter stickers for her title.
I had them start their books with a page about looking forward to going on our trip that will be the first page of the book.
Each “double page spread” will include a photo and a journaling card. The photo will be a collage that we create while there each evening – so they are ready to print as soon as we get home. The journaling card they will be on the other side. I like that the cards are all together in the spiral book so they can't be lost while we are there.
Now they are ready to go on our trip and my girls will have a wonderful book of THEIR memories of the trip.
My girls are so excited about capturing their memories themselves – including choosing the photos. What do you do to include your children in capturing and documenting their memories?
